Poker Hand Rankings


Below, starting at the highest and working the way down to the lowest, are the Poker Hand Rankings for a standard game of Texas Hold'em Poker.

Royal Flush - These cards have to be a consecutive 10, J,Q, K and Ace, and all of the cards must be of the same suit. All cards must be suited

Straight Flush - These cards have to be five consecutive cards, and all of the cards must be of the same suit.

Four of a Kind - These cards have to be four cards of the same rank along with any fifth card, which can be anything.

Full House - These cards have to be three matching cards along with a separate Pair.

Flush - These cards have to be five cards that are all suited, they cannot be consecutive, if they are then it is a Straight Flush mentioned above.

Straight - These cards have to be five consecutive cards, and they must be of mixed suits.

Three of a Kind - These cards have to be three cards of same rank and any other two unmatching cards.

Two Pair - These cards have to be two sets of 2 cards of same rank and any other unmatching card.

Pair - These cards have to be two cards of same rank and any three additional unmatching cards.

Basic Game Play Rules


The objective of most online poker games is for you to manage to work your way to the final round and then have uncover the best poker hand as per the above hand rankings, thus out ranking any or all of your opponents who are still left in the game.

There is one poker game which is an exception and this is when you are playing the Poker variant of Omaha Hi Low, where the pot will be split between the players who have both the highest and the lowest hand.

In the Poker variant of Texas Hold'em all of your fellow players, and yourself get to share the Community Cards of which there will be, as the game progresses, five of them.

Players will be dealt at the start of the game, two cards unique to them, and they can utilize any combination of Community Cards and the Players two cards can be used to make that particular player final poker hand.

At the final stage of the game which is called the showdown, the player who has managed to get the best five card poker hand takes the pot.
